About your Massage Therapist

Massage Therapy Experience

Before starting up "Karmassage," I managed a private massage therapy practice located in Austin, TX at the JCAA called "Massage at the J." After 2 1/2 wonderful years at the JCAA, I moved my practice to a larger, more private space located at 4131 Spicewood Springs Rd. Suite I-2, Austin, TX. Prior to working at the JCAA, I operated an outcall based massage therapy practice known as "Take A Massage!"

Massage Therapy Education

I am a graduate of the massage therapy program at Texas Healing Arts Institute in Austin, TX. I have studied the modalities of Swedish/Relaxation Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Tuina Sports Massage, Thai Massage, Rotator Cuff Release and received Levels I, II and III of spa certification. I am a Level II Reiki practitioner and Certified Level II Clinical Aromatherapist with 300 hours of education in Aromatherapy, alone! In addition to my regular course work, I have received advanced training in Myofascial Release and Cranio Sacral Therapy studying under internationally recognized therapist John F. Barnes, P.T.

Massage Therapy Philosophy

I specialize in deep tissue massage therapy delivered with a compassionate touch. I address the body with regard to structural alignment and posture, fascial restrictions, range of motion and lifestyle habits. Through client education, I have found the healing process to be faster and the client more empowered, when taking an active role in their own healing.

I firmly believe that massage therapy, whether used as preventative medicine, or in conjunction with more traditional forms of healing, can allow the client to progress to higher levels of physical and emotional well being. Massage therapy gives the body a chance to release stress, pain and emotional fatigue.

Giving Back

The idea for Karmassage originally came about during dinner at a local restaurant. Our server was someone in very dire straits, and I wanted to do something to help her out. So, I offered her a free massage. Karmassage - Giving Back, was born. At the time I owned a private massage practice called “Massage at the J.” In 2003, Karmassage was a side project, a place where people could nominate friends and loved ones who desperately needed massage, for a free massage. However, in 2005 I moved my practice from the JCAA (the “J”) and opened up shop down the street. I took Karmassage as my business name, and continued to massage nominees.

I volunteer massage therapy services through my "Giving Back" program. The "Giving Back" program came about out of a deep desire to give back to the community. Winners are chosen monthly to receive a free 60 minute massage therapy session. Please nominate someone in need of touch.

I also donate massage therapy services and massage gift certificates to various local fundraisers. Please visit the Events page to see where you can buy gift certificates to support a local cause!

Massage Therapy Organizations

I am a member in good standing with Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).

Personal

I am a full-time mother of 3 children (Dalia - 11, Fenix - 4, Kennedy - 18 months). I am a vegetarian undergoing a constant battle with cheese, a poet, craft-fiend and artist. When not massaging/mothering, you can find me playing chemist in the kitchen.
